Christmas Eve

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24th

The Scenario: A Christmas Eve party where you WILL be guzzling champagne like nobody's business.

The Core Item: This Topshop party-ready slip dress, spliced with sex-bomb-lace and hey-girl-hey sequins.

O HOLY NIGHT! MY THIGHS ARE SHINING BRONZELY, FROM THE NEW SPRAY TAN I GOT TODAY!

So now that you enjoyed my abridged version of a Christmas classic, what are y'all doing tonight for Xmas Eve? I am running to a party so I'm making this short and sweet like my last Tinder date. For Christmas Eve, wear a little black dress with a lot of sex appeal. Pair it with a non-boring black pump (this one is festooned with stars!) and a kitschy clutch with a Christmas-appropriate slogan. These are all TOPSHOP because the brand has been absolutely killing it with their dresses this season (plus all items are under $100 so #winning!)

START-UP YOUR ENGINE!

by Matthew T. Murray in HOLIDAY STYLE, CASUAL

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17th

WHAT TO WEAR TO HOLIDAY PARTIES, PART 3

THE SCENARIO: The super-cool start-up you work for is throwing a holiday party that's sure to be sheer drunken debauchery.

THE CORE ITEM: Coach's envy-inducing varsity jacket.

If you work in an office oozing with creativity, this is the outfit for you. Only in an office with awesomely nerdy graphic designers and quirky bespectacled feminists would this look make sense.

I mean, a bepatched varsity jacket + flare-leg cargo-jean hybrids + glossy silver sneakers (YAS RAF SIMONS, YAS!) + a handbag festooned with mini Lego pieces spelling 'LOVE'? Yeahhhhh, only to be worn at a holiday party for a cool company - you know the one that has like a ping-pong table in the kitchen and office happy hours where they bring in kegs. Yes, kegs.

So get ready to guzzle hangover-inducing amounts of alcohol, dance with that cute nerd in IT and swing your way around this holiday party in style.

And even though the GIF above is sooper creativez and closely resembles the experience of either dancing on a float at a summertime Gay Pride Parade or rolling face at a Miley Cyrus concert, I'm going to give you the outfit with a less bipolar background right here. Click the images below this look to shop them if you feel like spending some moolah!

Subversive Elegance

by Matthew T. Murray

Subversive Elegance
Subversive Elegance

It's an all-too familiar dilemma for well-heeled Manhattan women: What do I wear? Well, it is this question that prompted me to launch The Outfix. I'm hoping it will become your daily fix of outfit inspiration because let's face it - to us fashion bishes, an Alexander Wang jet-black mule gets us high in a way Molly will never and a sale at Barneys sends us on a trip (to the Madison Avenue flagship of course!)

And with the holiday season imminently approaching - Thanksgiving, Christmukkah, New Years, oh my! - it was time to comb-through the Interwebs to find an optimistic outfit that could weather the holidays and chilly temps with aplomb. Strike a fashion-forward chord in a look that is elegant with an edge. Let's call it subversive elegance.

Tibi's oh so trendy ball gown-skirt-hybrid has my eyes twinkling as the perfect conversation starter for those pregnant pauses with the in-laws. Keep it classic with a sleeveless sweater in a matching hue (swap for a silky-smooth cami for drinks with da gurlz) and make it pop with bubblegum-pink metallic heels and a groovy standout clutch. The finishing touches are candy-colored earrings and a chic ivory coat to combat frigid temps. Just remember when Aunt Beatrice berades you about your lackluster love life over Christmas dinner that you look too freakin' elegant to give a rats behind.
