WHAT WOULD REGINA GEORGE WEAR TODAY?

by Matthew T. Murray

SHE'S FABULOUS BUT SHE'S EVIL

Is there a movie in girl-world that comes even remotely close to the classic masterpiece that is Mean Girls? I mean God bless Clueless but Cher Horowitz would've been axe-murdered by the Regina George for the crime of daring to wear a near-identical plaid skirt Regina had worn the week before.

She was the Queen Bee of North Shore High School and may or may not have done car commercials in Japan. She was the matriarch of adolescents across America. Gretchen's father may have invented Toaster Strudel but it was Regina who invented Cady Heron. So she wins at life. And to celebrate her, I asked myself today "What Would Regina George Wear?"

My answer: the outfit above - a sliiiiightly more grown-up version of her high school glory days wearing this while terrorizing freshman in the hallways. And while taking style cues from the post-glory teenage queen of mean might be as smart as asking her to talk to Aaron Samuels for you (she did Cady dirty on that one, man!), I can't help but wonder if we'd all be better off tapping into our inner Reginas. After incessant mind-wrestling, I've come to the conslusion that we would be.

THURSDAY: HOW TO WEAR A MOM JEAN

by Matthew T. Murray

I'll spare you the poetics here and get straight to the point: this outfit is really cool. I never thought in a katrillion years that I'd be praising acid wash Mom jeans but this look works. Wear it to an FKA Twigs concert or test-drive it at work (only if you work in a non-stuffy job where coworkers understand why Tom Ford's days at Gucci were a pivotal moment in fashion). Add a leopard-y bag and quirky pilgrim shoes (both Miu Miu!) with an effortless tie-dye t-shirt and you've got a effortless but eye-catching look. Throw on this peach faux-fur jacket from Topshop to shield you against chilly temps and you've got a good look on your hands.

WEDNESDAY: CHANNEL YOUR INNER COOKIE LYONS

by Matthew T. Murray

"The names Cookie. Ask about me."

With all due respect to Jamal, Cookie Lyons is the QUEEN of Empire. I find myself shrieking like a pre-pubescent teen listening to a One Direction album every time Queen Cookie opens up her mouth. She could speak another language and I'd still laugh. She could fall in shit and still look fabulous. She hopped out the penitentiary and gave body to the peasants, rocking beaded Balmain, leopard print Cavalli gowns, and gorgeous coats that Khaleesi would kill for. Pretty much, Cookie slays in the fashion game. So in honor of her penchant for OTT-ness, I envision her in polka-dots, sequins, and leopard print so she can show Boo Boo Kitty who's really boss.

So why not channel your inner Cookie and wear this Dolce & Gabbana top (which she rocked on the show already) and don some sequin pants with it, baybay. And whenever you have an issue with a bish who crossed the line or you're second guessing your look, ask yourself "What would Cookie do?" and WORK MAMA, WORK!
