Grey & Leopard

by Matthew T. Murray

Wiz Khalifa had it wrong. It's not black and yellow. If you wore these two colors simultaneously, you would look like a ratchet bumblee on an acid trip. Grey and leopard on the other hand can do no wrong (repeat grey and leopard, grey and leopard, grey and leopard, grey and leopard!). This fall, rock one of the muted shades of the season - dove grey - in the most classically minimalist and wonderfully-executed coat shapes from ISSA. Pair with bright white jeans - white after Labor Day is A-okay - and Charlotte Olympia's standout shoe in a loud leopard print with mint-satin punches. When pairing grey and leopard, make sure your leopard print looks less Real Housewives of New Jersey and more Real Housewives of New York City. Catch ma' drift?!

Shop this Outfix:

Coat by ISSA, $725  /  Jeans by Rag & Bone, $185  /  Handbag  by Whiting & Davis, $189  /  Lipstick by MAC x Proenza Schouler, $22  /  Shoes by Charlotte Olympia, $473 (half-off!)

Fuzzy Wuzzy

by Matthew T. Murray

What's all the fuzz about? Sorry. Had to. Don't hate me. Or hate me but make sure to buy this Tibi pastel moto dream jacket in the fuzziest fabric. It's so plush, it's sure to remind you of your now-raggedy Beanie Baby collection stowed away under your bed. For the ultimate fuzzy wuzzy wet-dream, pair dove grey mule-hybrid shoes in a brushed, plush tweed (also Tibi!) and you've got quite the lewk. Pair it with a muted bag in a pastel shade of coral and ultra-hip Marc by Marc Jacobs jeans (now going by MBMJ under the direction of one Miss Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier) and be prepared to be snapped by Phil Oh. Hey, with fashion week around the corner, I couldn't help but think this is street style fodder. Will you embrace the fuzz this season?

Jacket by Tibi, $595  /  Jeans by MBMJ, $398  /  Handbag by Zara, $90  /  Lipstick by MAC Cosmetics, $16  /  Mules by Tibi, $385

That 70s Show

by Matthew T. Murray

Fashion carries a whiff of Haight-Ashbury insouciance this season. Feel free to binge-watch That 70s Show for a crash course in hippie-dippie style. Fashion is at its most topsy-turvy point – in years past, there was one definitive trend of the season that dominated the hearts and closets of the fashion-conscious. This season, the trends are a bipolar swirl of personality – like a jetlagged Real Housewife on an acid trip. Or Kenya Moore. (Sidenote: love you more than life itself Kenya!) It's a time that can be positively jarring or a time for you to take full advantage and experiment with the unknown.

In this case, fur chubbies, carefree wide-leg jeans,  tarnished suede bags, a bohemian touch here, a borderline-hippie moment there, are the unknown. They are uncharted territory. It can be a bit intimidating so feel free to isolate bits and bobbles from this trend to mix-in seamlessly with your existing wardrobe. The most important tidbit to keep in mind when tackling a trend is whether it will pair pretty with your personal style.

Coat by Zara, $129  /  Jeans by Free People, $128  /  Sunglasses by Warby Parker x Karlie Kloss, $145  /  Bag by Stuart Weitzman, $598  /  Boots by Gucci, $1450 (similar for under $300 here)
