Golden Globes 2016: The Evening's Best Dressed

by Matthew T. Murray in Best Dressed

Jennifer Lopez in Giambatista Valli

Jennifer Lopez in Giambatista Valli

I already yapped about it on my Instagram but Jennifer Lopez was the kween of the karpet at tonight's Golden Globe Awards. She shut it down in a marigold Giambatista Valli stunner and served old Hollywood glamour in a sea of sequin-speckled gowns.

The Golden Globes red carpet is the first major fashion moment of the new year and the shining stars of Hollywood put their best Louboutin-heeled feet forward. I couldn't help but salivate like a sex-starved puppy watching the usual red carpet suspects make their grand entrance and tell that jolly ole' Seacrest what they are wearing.

Here are tonight's best dressed stars - from Cate Blanchett and her pastel pink cascading fringed Givenchy Haute Couture number to Zendaya's merlot-hued brocade showstopper from Marchesa. Clickity click on the images below to see the look and view outfit details.

HELLO FROM THE HOTLINE BLING

by Matthew T. Murray

Drizzy in Tom Ford. Adele in Burberry. The dream team in what they should be wearing.

Drizzy in Tom Ford. Adele in Burberry. The dream team in what they should be wearing.

It doesn't take Albert Einstein's IQ to track down the parallel between Adele's "Hello" and Drake's "Hotline Bling." The lyricism has the same core: former flames who have changed through the years although Drake's version is packaged with a cha-cha-cha feeling and Adele's is the tearjerker to end all tearjerkers. But then Adele muddied the waters here when she mentioned the song wasn't about reconnecting with an ex-love but about reconnecting with herself. But for the sake of convenience, we'll just pretend she never said that and that the two artists were having cappuccinos discussing music world dominance when they penned their hit songs together.

Now rumors are swirling at the good ole Rumor Mill about the two collaborating on an official Hotline Bling remix. So, I'm pretty much shitting glitter right now. I mean, pray to your Fairy Godmother right this freakin' second and let's make this collab come to fruition. Adele loves Drake, wants to collab, and danced drunk off her ass to 'Hotline Bling' (Adele and I have more in common than I had previously thought). So now, it's time for Drake to give her a call on the cellllphoonnneeee late night ... ok, I'll stop.

But here's one teency weency issue. If they do grant my wish and the collaboration comes to life, we have to talk fashion. Because at The Outfix, I'm all about the best outfit to complement living your best life. And while I was feeling the cherry-red Moncler bomber Drizzy rocked, the grey Granddaddy sweater and Timbs had to GTFO. And Adele's shaggy Muppet coat in 'Hello' wasn't nearly as visually-appealing as the actual Muppets. So, I decided to work my little Photoshop fairy magic and put Drake in something he'd absolutely never wear but would look fucking phresh in - a Tom Ford spring 2014 look - and Adele in a chicer coat that would complement her bombshell body - a Burberry Fall 2013 runway look. Now, these outfits are blinging my hotline wink wink owwww owww!
