Feather and Fringe

by Matthew T. Murray

Street style. Two little words, one large impact. Like-minded fashion girls nationwide look to the never-ending slideshows of fashion's finest during Fashion Month (Hanneli! Anna! Miroslava! Random chick with the Chanel bag that has haunted precisely seventeen dreams of mine!) to inform the way they dress. I comb through these slideshows like a salivating puppy - more appropriately, let's go with a starved and ravenous eagle - but each click brings about a mixed Dior bag of emotions: a little inspiration, a lot of envy, some confusion (how the f*&# did the street style gods deem basic jeans and a t-shirt worthy of a snap!?), and a smile here and there that I give permission to surface on the corners of my mouth. More than anything else, street style thrills me and makes me want to spruce things up in my own wardrobe and share just how you can too.

This Outfix above screams 'Phil Oh, please photograph me or I will die an untimely death sans make-up!'. And lookie, lookie, Phil Oh already did a whole thing on the street style set rocking suede fringe so you're a shoe-in for a well-deserved snap. But damn, pair the fringe with feathers and gurl, you just won Fashion Week! The feathery top, too, is by none other than newly-minted street style necessary-designer Marques'Almeida - who has gotten the best buzz this week from both my spirit animal Leandra Medine of Man Repeller and the Greek gods of fashion - the writers of Style.com. To give the dripping tassels of fringe and the fluffity fluffiness of feathers a bit of a necessary tone-down, pair with light-wash denim and a peachy-pink bag( I am kind of am obsessed with it and featured here by the way!).

Shop this Outfix below:

Top by Marques'Almeida, $579  /  Jeans by Zara, $80  /  Lipstick by NARS, $26  /  Handbag by Zara, $90  /  Heels by Schutz, $135

Altuzarra for Target - EVERYTHING UNDER $100!

by Matthew T. Murray

Joseph Altuzarra is the newly-crowned design darling of the New York fashion circuit. His eponymous brand Altuzarra was 'born out of the desire to make the sophisticated modern woman feel seductive, strong and confident.' His spring 2015 collection was a tour de force of subverted glamour: adding sex appeal to a picnic print (see my Instagram!), sending down a slew of slender beauties in vixen looks worthy of a fetish fantasy not even Anastasia could handle, and finding that infallible interplay between provocative and pretty. And while his designs cost a pretty penny (most clock-in at around 2 grand!), now is your chance to snap 'em up on the cheap thanks to this phenomenally phenomenal Target collab of phenomic proportions (phenomic is not a word but for the purposes of exaggerative exaggerations, it will be henceforth!).

The Altuzarra Target collection has a haute emphasis on sprucing up your work wardrobe so you can be the belle of the ball from 9 to 5. But because I kind of am obsessed with playing with fire in terms of styling, I concocted this look envisioning a woman on-the-go darting from cubicle to cocktails. And at $35 for the skirt, buy it now or regret it later! Shop this Outfix below and note how everything rings-in for under $100!

T-shirt by H&M, $10  /  Skirt by Altuzarra for Target, $35  /  Sunnies by Warby Parker, $95  /  Handbag by Zara, $26  /  Heels by Zara, $90

Olive Oil

by Matthew T. Murray

And then it happened. This purveyor of cheery prints and eye-burning color (I'm talking about me! me! me!) has gone to the dark side. Well, not the dark side. But the olive side, if such a side existed in the side of sides out there. After a binge eating session that doubled as a Spring runway private viewing (eating Chinese in bed and clicking through the Ralph Lauren slideshow > actually going to the show, don't it!?), I found myself craving all things olive. Perhaps it was the elegant take on safari style that Ralph Lauren sent down the laminated runway. Or maybe it was the beaded-and-bewilderingly-bejeweled Marc Jacobs mossy looks that tugged on my heart strings (see my Insta from today!). Could it have been this little crickled number from J. Crew that is the perfect throw-and-go dress on those mornings you look like a drunk raccoon - come on, don't act like that isn't every Monday morning for you!?

Anywhoo, the evergreen shades providing me some springspiration (ooh la la, see what I did there?!) are also providing me with ideas for fabulous fall looks. Pair a borrowed-from-the-boys cargo-inspired olive jacket with the most perfect pair of jeans (cuffed twice for a look with quirk!) and muted brown pumps that look much more expensive than they actually are (Zara, you are a godsend and I worship at your altar from here on in). Add a pop of color in the form of this beautiful Celine bag you should sell your unborn child for + add a vivid lip and you've got the perfect outfit in my humble but supa biased opinion!

Jacket by Zara, $99  /  Jeans by Zara, $50  /  Lipstick by MAC, $16  /  Bag by Celine, $1980 (a cool alternative under $300 here)  /  Heels by Zara, $90
