Fitness Friday!

by Matthew T. Murray in FITNESS

Fuck binge eating Taco Bell and binge watching Netflix tonight as tempting as that may sounds! Blow off drinking seventeen Surfer Girls with your squadron at Réunion Surf Bar! Cancel plans for margaritas at Blockheads with that finance bro you met on Tinder! It's Friday night and nothing's more turnt than the gym!

First things first, lemme just say I don't EVER want to encourage one type of desirable body because man oh man the media does that enough. All women's bodies - more precisely, all women in general - are beautiful. I stand behind that 400 thousand percent. But sometimes, you want to look like one of those Victoria's Secret aliens.

And while it's still TBC whether those chicks' bodies are created by mad scientists in some far-flung Icelandic factory (it's probable, amiright?!), you can get cracking on your body right now by heading to the gym.

Don't worry about working out for the perfect body - instead, workout to feel good. When you feel good, you look good. You have that radiant glow that Maybelline and YouTube contouring tutorials can never give you.

And here is an outfit to make you even happier to go to the gym. Because you'll dread squats less when Toucan Sam is winking back at you from a Adidas jacket.

GET YOUR ASS TO THE GYM

by Matthew T. Murray in CASUAL, FITNESS

MONDAY, JANUARY 4th

What to Wear to the Gym, Part 1

Victoria's Secret Pink bra. Adidas by Stella McCartney leggings. Adidas sneakers. Bkr water bottle.

Hey, ladies! I know it's hard to put down that double-glazed, vanilla-frosted Krispy Kreme but since you wanted to work on your fitness this year as a core resolution, I need to tell you to put that MOTHERFUCKING DONUT DOWN!

Excuse my French but sometimes, you need tough love. Anyways, to help with your resolution, I already found all the best exercise gear under $130 for you to shop and digitally styled a high fashion Fendi fitness look last week (read: expensive af but worth it if you have a spare thousand dollars laying around).

Now to make it even easier, every Monday and Friday, I will be digitally styling fitness outfits for your gym excursions because function and fashion do go together. So the times you need the most inspiration to get your ass to the gym - the beginning of the week and the end - I will have a little dose of fitspo fashion for yah.

Let's face the facts here, you've worn that oversize, ratty, hole-bearing, stain-wielding grey t-shirt to the gym so many times even your fashion-aloof dude friends have taken notice. So it's time to shop for the clothes that make you actually want to go to the gym! Let's do this, ladies!

Fitness #Goals

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29th

Fendi jacket. Bkr water bottle. Fendi leggings. Nike sneakers.

It's that time of year again where you shit your pants writing New Year's Resolutions. I know one item on everyone's #goals list for 2016: get fit or die tryin.'

But first, let me remind you that you and your body are beautiful. We become so bombarded by the pretty young things on the runways (here's lookin' at you, Gigi and Kendall!), the tan and toned fitness chicks on Instagram hawking some type of detox tea at you, and the girl next door who suddenly has Candace Swanepoel's abs and Kim Kardashian's ass.

You see all these images of 'perfection' that you forget how fucking awesome you are. So what if you resemble a beluga whale after eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's? You're living life.

But fitness really is a fantastic journey. Don't say "I want to lose 15 pounds in 30 days." Don't head to Juice Press and stock up for hibernation. Don't cut out carbs completely. Think of this as long-term. Not short-term.

Find a fitness class you love (SoulCycle and Barry's Bootcamp are dope!) Find a friend who shares your fitness goals and work out (and gossip about bitchy coworkers) with them. Walk instead of taking the train. But most importantly, have fun doing it. Don't beat yourself up for not losing weight fast enough or eating that third slice of pizza. If you have fun while working on your fitness, you'll be an unstoppable force of hotness.

And because I'm here to tell you what to wear, I found the most fashion-forward Fendi (sorry, I'm really feelin' Fendi these days - see below!) sport look. Throw on your fave kicks (I live for Nikes!) and grab a Vogue-approved Bkr water bottle. Cute workout clothes will make you want to go to the gym! YOU BETTA WORK, BITCH (sidenote: really great song for the treadmill)!
